Ficus microcarpa

A Small Banyan with a Leafy Crown

The Dwarf Banyan Bonsai Tree is a compact Ficus microcarpa with a woody trunk and closely branching stems. Its glossy, slightly curved green leaves form a leafy crown, with new foliage emerging in lighter shades before deepening in color. The smaller proportions and gently arching leaves give this banyan bonsai its distinctive shape.

Planted in Speckled White

This banyan bonsai tree comes planted in a handmade Speckled White planter. Its pale, lightly textured finish sets off the green foliage and branching trunk. Sized for a shelf or windowsill, the bonsai sits naturally among ceramic vases and other living plants.

Maintaining Its Shape

As the tree grows, new branches gradually fill out its canopy. Occasional light pruning helps maintain its compact form while allowing the branching structure to develop. In higher humidity, the tree may also produce slender aerial roots, a characteristic of banyan figs.

IN A NUTSHELL

Bright, indirect light. Tolerates softer indoor light.

Water when the pot feels noticeably lighter, typically every 5–7 days.

Please note: Live plants may vary in size and appearance based on season and grower availability. Plants will continue to fill out and develop their mature characteristics over time.

Orders ship November 2nd.

Product Care

Light: Place in bright, indirect light. Dwarf Banyan tolerates softer indoor light, but avoid harsh midday sun.
Watering: Water when the pot feels about half as light as it does after a full soak, typically every 5–7 days. Submerge the pot up to the rim for 5–10 minutes, then allow it to drain fully. Check more frequently during hot or dry weather.
Temperature: Keep between 55–80°F, away from heaters, AC vents, and sudden temperature changes.
Humidity: Moderate to high humidity supports healthy growth and may encourage aerial root development.
Growth and Pruning: Trim new growth lightly as needed to maintain the tree's compact shape and manage canopy density.
