Ficus microcarpa

A Twisting Trunk

The Chinese Banyan Bonsai Tree is a ficus bonsai with a thick, twisting trunk that divides into finer woody stems. Small oval leaves gather near the tips, leaving much of the textured bark exposed. The irregular curves of the trunk give each tree its distinctive shape.

Set in Midnight Black

The handmade Midnight Black planter contrasts with the textured bark and green foliage. Its rounded form sits below the tree's irregular silhouette, keeping the trunk and spreading stems in view. Sized for shelves and windowsills, this indoor bonsai tree fits easily among ceramic vessels and other houseplants.

Pruning New Shoots

New shoots extend from the stems and gradually add foliage to the canopy. Occasional pruning helps manage longer shoots while preserving the tree's distinctive form.

Product Care

Light: Place in bright, indirect light. This ficus can also tolerate softer natural light.
Watering: Water when the pot feels about half as light as it does after a full watering, typically every 5–7 days. Submerge the pot up to the rim for 5–10 minutes, then allow it to drain fully.
Temperature and Humidity: Keep between 55–80°F and away from heaters, AC vents, and sudden temperature changes. Moderate to high humidity may encourage aerial roots to develop.
Growth and Pruning: New leaves and shoots emerge along the branches as the tree grows. Prune new growth as needed to manage its shape while retaining the visible branching structure.
