ABOUT BLACKSAW

During a motorcycle trip into the Andean mountain range in South America, Steph and Kyle Taylor discovered the region’s beautiful alpaca fiber and hatched the idea of building a sustainable business around it. They named their company Blacksaw. The company’s goal was to create “meaningful possessions” from eco-friendly, sustainable materials; long-lasting, timeless pieces that are worthy of taking up space in your life.  

An Alpaca throw can last for decades, but its greatest enemies are moths and other pests.  If you need to put it away during warmer months, dry clean it first, then store it with insect repelling cedar chips or lavender bundles. Do not store in a plastic bag or dry cleaning bag as this will allow moisture to build up and fibers to felt. Light and airy spaces are highly recommended. All BLACKSAW blankets ship with a cotton canvas drawstring bag for safe storage.

Alpaca fibers are naturally odour, stain and wrinkle resistant which means they can go a long way between cleaning. We encourage you to hang your Alpaca blanket outside, avoiding direct sunlight, to air it out occasionally as dry cleaning is not good for the environment. When you do need to clean your Alpaca throw, please read the care instructions first or dry clean only.
